The Goldfinch is an American drama film directed by John Crowley and is shot by one of my favorite cinematographers Roger Deakins. The casts includes Oakes Fegley, Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright and Luke Wilson.
The film is an adaption of the 2013 novel by Donna Tartt. 13 year old, Theodore Decker’s life takes a turn when his mother dies in a terrorists attack while visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Theo grabs a small painting called the Goldfinch. After his mother passed away, he has no one to go to as his deadbeat father left him a while ago. His close friend Andy and his wealthy parents decide to take him in. Later, Theodore develops an interest for selling antiques. The story is told in first person narration describing Theo’s life as he grows older.
Filming took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, New York City and Amsterdam.
