Life of Pi is one of my favorite movies. I would say somewhere on my top 20's list. Directed by Ang Lee who also won best director for the film at the Oscars. This film is based off of Canadian author, Yann Martel's book the Life of Pi.
The story revolves around Piscine Molitor, an Indian boy whose family decides to move to Canada because of political tension in their homeland. His parents were owners of a zoo and they decided to take the animals with them on a ship. During their journey, a terrible storm was summoned and their ship was swallowed by the deep sea. By luck, Pi survives but finds out he has bigger survival problems other than being stranded in the middle of no where in the Pacific Ocean.
Filming mostly took place in Taiwan, where Ang Lee is from. All of the ocean scenes were filmed on set in the world's largest wave tank located in, Shuinan Aiport, Taiwan. Filming also took place in Puducherry(formerly Pondicherry), India and Montreal, Canada.
